Save the Dates for 2020 Census
This is the timeline for census activity.

Due to the importance of the Census to our community, local leaders provided funding to support 2020 Census outreach efforts. Here is a timelines of census activities for the next year.
January 2018 – December 2019
Local Leaders will engage and educate residents about 2020 Census.
February 2020 – June 2020
Group Quarters Operations will begin to contact everyone living in multi-family dwellings. During peak recruiting for 2020 field operations, nearly 500 Local Census Offices will hire more than 1.2 million people to conduct all remaining 2020 Census field operations.
March 2020
Counting begins. On March 23, a call to action for residents to respond will begin via letters and postcards.
April 2020
April 1 is Reference Day for the census. Responses to the census form should include everyone who will be living at your address on this date. (It is not necessary to wait until Census Day to return census forms, however. Forms should be returned as quickly as possible.)
May 2020
This is the Non Response Follow-Up (NRFU) period. During NRFU, Census workers will make up to six attempts to obtain data from households that do not respond. You will still be able to self respond during this period.
June 2020 – July 2020
Census workers will visit households that do not return forms to take the count in person.
August 2020
Area census offices will close.
December 2020
Count will be delivered to the President.
